The Legion Collegiate Academy girls’ golf team placed third out of 18 schools in the 18-hole Lady Patriot tournament that was hosted by Powdersville High School and held at the Smithfields Country Club in Easley on Monday.
The first-year Lancers earned the third place trophy by shooting an 18-hole team score of 378 on the Par 72, 5,069-yard course. Legion was led by Buggy Reinke who earned all-tournament honors by finishing with a 3-over par 75.
Chesnee High School cruised to the tournament championship by firing 327 while T.L. Hanna was second at 369. The remainder of the team standings was as follows: Belton Honea Path (4), Wren (5), Powdersville (6), Seneca (7), Greenville (8), Landrum (9), Pendleton (10), Christ Church (11), West-Oak (12), Chapman (13), Ware Shoals (14), Blue Ridge (15), White Knoll (16), Greer Middle College (17), and Eastside (18).
“I am real proud of the girls for capturing a trophy in just the second tournament in school history,” said Legion Coach Kim Case.
Legion’s other golfers and their scores were: Katie Warner (93); Logan Hamel (99), Reagan Hughes (111) and Sarah Thomas (124).
Legion Collegiate returns to action on Monday, September 30, when the Lancers travel to Seneca for The Jack Invitational at Cross Creek Plantation.
