Girls' Golf Team Starts Strong With A 7th Place Finish In 17-Team Tournament

The Legion Collegiate Academy girls’ golf team finished seventh out of 17 schools in the 18-hole Lady Bengal tournament hosted by Blythewood High School and played at the Columbia Country Club last Thursday.


Coach Kim Case’s squad shot a team score of 355 and was led by Buggy Reinke who earned all-tournament honors after finishing fourth in medal competition with a two-over par 74 (37-37) to finish just four shots behind Blythewood’s Ella Stalvey who finished at 2-under par 70 to lead her team to the tournament title with a score of 297.


“I am really proud of how our team competed for the first time against a very strong tournament field,” said Case. “To finish seventh and have one of our girls earn a top five finish is a great way to begin our golf program at Legion.”


A total of 138 individual competed in the tournament. Legion’s other finishers and their scores were: Katie Warner (21st, 84); Reagan Hughes (34th, 94), Logan Hamel (50th, 103), and Sarah Thomas (79th, 130).

Lugoff-Elgin (500); 17. James Island (503).


Legion Collegiate will be back in action on Monday, September 23, when the Lancers travel to Powdersville for the Lady Pirate Invitational at Smithfields Country Club.
