The Legion Collegiate Academy girls’ golf team captured the championship of The Jack tournament in Seneca on Monday and Buggy Reinke earned the first place individual trophy as she finished with a 1-under par round of 71.
The Lancers finished with an 18-hole team score of 360 at Cross Creek Plantation as they finished 26 shots ahead of host Seneca (386) in the nine-team tourney.
Katie Warner and Logan Hamel joined Reinke in the top 10 finishers. Warner fired a 81 to finish third while Hamel shot 94 to place ninth. Reagan Hughes rounded out Legion’s scoring at 114 while Caroline Lee shot 128 while competing as an individual.
The remaining team scores were as follows: 3. Powdersville (398), 4. Walsall’s (400), 5. Wren (408), 6. Pendleton (418), 7. West Oak (430) and Pickens (430), 9. Liberty (459).
“I am so proud of this team. They continue to get better with each tournament and this victory is special because it is the first championship in Legion history,” said head coach Kim Case.
Legion Collegiate returns to action on October 6 when the Lancers travel to Newberry for The Pink Invitational at Newberry Golf Club.
