LCA is a dual credit collegiate academy where students gain up to 60 hours of college credit while obtaining their high school diploma.
Students at LCA attend either an AM (8:00-12:00) or PM (12:30-4:30) session with at least one online class completed on their own time.
Academically, the South Carolina Department of Education requires 120 hours of instruction to receive one high school credit. LCA college prep students (9th and 10th graders) will receive 165 hours of instruction per core course (credit) plus needed interventions.
At the collegiate level, LCA students will have more face to face instruction than required by LCA’s dual credit provider.
LCA has two student target populations: (1) students who desire to participate in a structured dual enrollment college credit program while in high school and (2) students who want to participate in an elite sports program..
LCA will enroll students from anywhere in the Greater Rock Hill Area and from any district in South Carolina..
LCA will host an elite sports program with a goal of 30% or more of its athletes having at least one offer to play at the collegiate level.
LCA’s Planning Committee has partnered with Pinnacle Charter Academies, an Educational Management Organization to be the operating entity of the school.
LCA will be the third public charter high school in South Carolina under the management of Pinnacle Charter Academies, joining Gray Collegiate Academy in West Columbia and Oceanside Collegiate Academy in Mt. Pleasant. USC Lancaster and USC Union will serve as LCA's dual credit provider.
